BC Beer Awards & Festival launches 2021 collaboration brew, "Gap Year" with funds going to Diversity in Brewing and the Canadian Red Cross wildfire support.
Vancouver BC, Canada (September 28 2021)
For the second year, Altro Labels is proud to support this wonderful cause as the official label partner for Gap Year, a Hazy Pale Ale exploding with juicy stone fruit.
Crafted by multiple Canadian Brewing Awards winner Kerry Dyson at BREWHALL, this double dry hopped hazy pale ale is a combination of Mosaic, Idaho Gem, and El Dorado hops. Together it gives off tropical aromas of red berry and bold stone fruit, while capping it off with a soft and restrained bitterness.
Gap Year // (Noun, English) sometimes referred to as Beer Year, it's time when students choose to sabbatical and engage in questionable activities fuelled by alcohol.
Ok, we're kidding. But it does have some relevance here, as the Gap Year in question is about our beloved BCBA's, led by Amanda Barry-Butchart.
The name "Gap Year" pokes fun at the fact that we've taken another year off from hosting the festival, and stays true to the school/classroom theme that all our collabs have held over the years, because supporting students in the beer community remains our priority!

Nothing like BC beer's biggest night getting postponed due to Covid-19, twice.
But it's all good. Anticipation and foreplay is great because it'll be hugs and chugs throughout the community of people who dedicate their lives to British Columbia's thirsty hop addicts.
Last year's "Class Act" got the ball rolling on this yearly collaboration series, which saw the same group of partners get together to do some good for the community. That time around it was a dry-hopped boysenberry sour that had just the right amount of wheat after taste.

We raised $10,000 for marginalized members of society and will match it this time around.
Proceeds for this year will support the following organizations:
Diversity In Brewing: An initiative that works to improve visibility and inclusivity in the craft beer industry by providing scholarships for self-identifying BIPOC & LGBTQ2S+ students at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s brewing program.
Canadian Red Cross: British Columbia Fires Appeal: Providing immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long term recovery, resiliency and preparedness for future events in British Columbia and impacted regions, including consequential events related to this Summer’s wildfires.
Thanks again to BREWHALL and the generous help of all the sponsors, Altro Labels, Brewers Supply Group, Imperial Yeast, & Vessel Packaging Co. The label art was created by Michelle Lee at Broadview Creative.
